2018 was the year WCS finally got to attend the fantastic Showcase. Ireland’s creative expo, which features handmade crafts, gifts and fashion. Over the years a number of the wonderful business which have progressed through the Waterford Chamber Skillnets Entrepreneurship in Food or Craft programmes have had the opportunity to take part in the expo but this was our first year to actually see what wonders lay within.

The event that runs over 3 days showcases some of Ireland’s finest creators, artists and craft business, who display their products with the aim of sourcing a buyer, either national or international. While, the level of talent and quality of those showcasing truly blew us away, there was so much to see and we didn’t get to speak to all the creators and artists:

Here is our top picks for 2018 showcase.

• Brian Dunne – Jeweller - whose line Resonate is inspired by the sounds of Ireland -

• Raquel Walsh – Potter - creates beautiful handmade pottery and hand painted Creative Ceramics for your home and garden. • Miriam Wade – Jeweller - who blends a fusion of inspirations to create her jewellery line.

• Sean Curran - Artist – Engineer turn fine artist Sean delicately creates some of Irelands most iconic landmarks with his paintings and prints. • Terry Yates – Yates Natural Skincare – To assist his wife’s recovery from illness and her move to synthetic free products Terry worked with a cosmetic chemist to design his natural skin care range.

• John and Paul Cullen – Knitwear - Established by their mother Molly Cullen in 1957, Irish Craft Knitwear is meets traditional craft meets modern style.

• Andrew & Vida Pain – Glass Painting – Wonderfully Quirky and each one inspired by a chance encounter with nature.

• Lani’s Surf Art - quirky, fun and colourful art depicting coastal living;

• Alison Byrne – Wildbird Studio – a Dublin based art studio specialising in stained glass;

• Shona Shirley MacDonald – MIREOG – Eco-Friendly Celtic Language Products based in Ring, Co Waterford;

• Thomas Wollen Ceramics – unique ceramic art -

• Belinda Northcote Designs – Botanical Artist -
