The Craft Academy programme which has been running since 2011 has been designed to facilitate the business development of craft entrepreneurs to a level that prepares them for national and international exposure.
This 2 semester programme which is 52 days in total offers the training, support and mentoring necessary for aspiring and early stage artisan crafts people to acquire the knowledge and competencies required to start and manage a sustainable craft business.
The programme will equip participants with the business skills required to operate in today’s competitive marketplace and prepare their product and themselves for the journey that is self-employment.
The Craft Academy is funded through the Waterford Chamber Skillnet Employment Activation Fund and is open to eligible unemployed and under employed applicants who meet the criteria at this link; https://www.skillnetireland.ie/about/developing-your-skills/developing-irelands-future-workforce/
By participating on the Craft Academy, participants will be offered the opportunity to take part at markets such as Waterford Harvest Festival, Wexford Opera Festival, and GIFTED at the Rds under The Southeast Makers Market group.
Waterford Chamber Skillnet is currently accepting applications for the next Craft Academy programme starting in late November.
