The UCD Professional Academy Boosting Productivity with AI Skill Sprint is designed to help professionals harness the power of AI tools to enhance their productivity in workplace environments. This practical, hands-on course focuses on developing your ability to use AI effectively as a collaborative partner in your daily workflows.

Suited for: Leaders at all levels seeking to develop emotional intelligence skills for managing diverse teams and enhancing collaboration, grounded in practical neuroscience.

3 weeks: One, 2-hour lecture per week

The Professional Academy Lead with EQ Skill Sprint will help you, as a manager, explore the main themes required in using emotional intelligence (EQ) as part of your management style. By embedding EQ within your professional communication, you will be able to better foster others’ professional growth and help mobilise them towards organisational targets.

Suited for: Leaders at all levels seeking to develop emotional intelligence skills for managing diverse teams and enhancing collaboration, grounded in practical neuroscience.

Level 1 will build your understanding in what EQ is and develop your skills in how to approach conversations and challenging situations with emotional intelligence. This level also promotes the introspection of current management styles and how they may impact relationships and professional goals. EQ is not a replacement for best practices of self-reflection or professional communications but an enhancement to help you navigate an increasingly complex and diverse workforce.

Units Covered:

Unit 1: Foundations of EQ

Know the basics. This unit defines the importance of EQ in leadership and introduces the five components: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.

  • Key Topics: The 5 Components of EQ, Benefits of high EQ, The Johari Window.

Unit 2: Leading Self

Regulate your response. This unit focuses on self-awareness and self-regulation, teaching you to recognise emotional triggers and manage the “amygdala hijack.”

  • Key Topics: Emotional regulation, The “Amygdala Hijack,” Labelling and reframing emotions.

Unit 3: Leading Others

Connect and motivate. This unit applies EQ to team dynamics, using the SCARF model to understand social motivation and lead with empathy.

  • Key Topics: Empathy under stress, The SCARF Model, Applying social skills in leadership.

Private sector or commercial semi-state enterprises only.
