Programme Details:

GreenPass is a practical, engaging one-day programme designed for on-the-ground workers, i.e. general operatives and supervisors dealing with the practical realities on landscape sites. These workers may or may not have a formal horticulture training, but they have the potential to become environmental champions for their organisations and for their clients. This training presents an opportunity to raise environmental standards, improve site practices and deliver landscapes that thrive long after construction is complete.

As expectations around sustainability, biodiversity and environmental responsibility continue to grow, landscape professionals have a vital role to play. GreenPass equips participants with the knowledge, awareness and confidence to recognise environmental risks, make informed decisions and lead their teams in delivering better outcomes for people, nature and the built environment.

Through real-world examples, interactive discussions, site scenarios and practical workshops, participants will explore five environmental foundations of landscape construction: soil, trees/plants, habitats (biodiversity), water, and pollution prevention. They will learn how to identify potential problems before they escalate, protect existing natural assets, communicate concerns effectively and take ownership of environmental performance on site.

The programme also focuses on the importance of planning, teamwork, specifications, workmanship and long-term landscape success. From protecting tree roots and maintaining healthy soils to managing water responsibly and reporting environmental issues, GreenPass connects everyday site decisions with the bigger picture.

ALCI’s GreenPass programme is about building a culture of environmental responsibility, where doing the right thing becomes part of how every project is delivered.

By the end of the day, participants will be better equipped to lead by example, support their teams, prevent avoidable environmental damage and create landscapes that are built to last.

Participants who complete the programme will receive an ALCI Certificate of Completion.
