Guarding Security Skills Information Session and English Language Assessment

Expressions of Interest are now open for QQI4 Guarding Security Skills Information Session and English Language Assessment on March 20th
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING VIA THIS PORTAL;
**Applicants who express and interest via this portal, will be required to attend an Information Session followed by a Security Institute required English Language Assessment, both on March 20th**

OVERVIEW of March 20th Information Session and English Language Assessment
- All applicants will be required to attend an indepth Information Session outlining the QQI4 Guarding Security Skills training programme for those who are offered a place.
- Due to demand applicants may be allocated a time slot for attendance. Time slots and venue to be confirmed.
- There will also be information provided regarding the current employment demands and labour market gaps within the Security Industry.
- Following the information session, applicants will be offered the opportunity to complete an English Language Assessment.
To sit the English Language Assessment applicants;
- Must be proficient in the English Language
- Must write 100 words on a subject given to the learner
- Must read a paragraph from the security manual
- Must listen to the reading of a report and take notes, use the notes to answer questions about the report
- Must show understanding by matching the first part of a sentence with its corresponding part.
Applicants attending on March 20th are asked to bring the following documentation with them to satisfy Private Security Authority QQI course requirements;
- PPS number – Social Protection Card
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of identification, any one of the following
- Current driving licence
- Current Passport
- Garda age card
- Dept social protection card
- Proof of address, any one of the following
- Utility bill (dated within previous 6 months)
- Bank statement (dated within previous 6 months)
- Document issued by a government department/agency (dated within previous 12 months)
- Letter from PSA contractor (dated within previous 1 month
4. Stamp 4 Visa and/or Labour Market Access Permission letter
5. IRP card (Irish Residence Permit) OR TRC card (Temporary Residence Card) with Labour Market Access Permission letter for all non European Economic Area (EEA) Nationals.
Applicants who successfully pass the English Language Assessment and are offered a place on the QQI4 Guarding Security Skills training programme (which will commence in March 2023) and proceed to PSA Licence Application stage will be required to again produce the following:
1.Proof of identification, any one of the following
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Driving Licence
- IRP card (Irish Residence Permit) OR TRC card (Temporary Residence Card) with Labour Market Access Permission letter for all non European Economic Area (EEA) Nationals.
2. All applicants to produce the following at PSA licence application stage:
- Foreign Criminal Record Certificate (if you have spent six months or more in another jurisdiction since the age of 15)
- This process can incur a cost which is NOT COVERED by Waterford Chamber Skillnet

- This is a 100% funded programme is available to jobseekers and / or certain social welfare recipients, as well as under employed individuals and individuals not in receipt of any social welfare payment ONLY. - This programme is not open to anyone currently on a CE / TUS scheme or anyone in receipt of an educational grant / individuals in full time education, or individuals who do not have permission to work in Ireland.
