Course Overview:

This intermediate-level Lean Yellow Belt course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to build on the foundations of Lean and develop as Lean practitioners focused on daily process improvement in their work. The Lean Yellow Belt course is over two days, with inperson sessions focusing on Lean Foundations, Process Mapping, and Structured Problem-Solving. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops and interactive tutorials to reinforce learning

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the essence of Lean methodology and its core principles.
  • Explore the concept of value and identify different forms of waste within processes.
  • Develop effective problem-solving skills and implement root cause analysis techniques to address operational challenges.
  • Apply process mapping to identify areas for optimisation and streamline workflows.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within your organisation

The Lean Yellow Belt certification provides foundational knowledge in Lean practices. Yellow Belts are trained to identify inefficiencies and contribute to problem solving efforts within an organisation. They play a crucial role in supporting process improvement teams by collecting data, suggesting improvements, and implementing Lean tools.

What Does a Lean Yellow Belt Do?
The Yellow Belt level equips individuals with the knowledge to identify inefficiencies and non-value-added activities in daily operations. Yellow Belt holders are expected to understand the fundamentals of Lean and how to contribute to larger Lean improvement initiatives.

  • Identify Waste and Inefficiencies: Yellow Belts are trained to spot the “7 Wastes” (such as defects, overproduction, waiting, non-utilised talent, transportation, inventory, motion, and extra processing) in their work environments. They actively look for opportunities to eliminate waste and improve workflows.
  • Engage in Problem-Solving: Lean Yellow Belts use tools like root cause analysis and process mapping to identify the underlying causes of problems in processes. They help break down issues and offer solutions that can streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Implement Basic Lean Tools: Yellow Belts apply basic Lean tools such as 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and kaizen (continuous improvement) to help teams organise workspaces and workflows for optimal efficiency.
  • Promote a Culture of Continuous Improvement: Yellow Belts play a key role in fostering a Lean mindset within their organisation. They encourage teams to continuously seek small, incremental improvements and work toward greater operational excellence.
